Image Maps, also known as active maps, are graphics or images containing active link areas. Instead of the link being from a word or phrase in the document or navigation bar, designated areas known as 'hotspots' are used as links.

Image Maps are used typically when a company operates from several locations. The user can click on specific areas of the Image Map to link to a page or information dedicated to that particular location.
